Best online backup for mac4/15/2023 ![]() When new photos are added, place the original files in the NAS Leave just the Lightroom catalog and previews on the internal SSD, with regular backups to NAS Migrate all data from the external 3.5 drive connected to the Mac, to the new Synology NAS I have just bought a new bigger NAS (the 6 bay DS1621+) and undecided what to do with the old 2bay one DS218+. Usually I produce new photos/videos which I put into an external 3.5 drive directly connected to the Mac, with a Time Machine to a local Time Machine on a Synology NAS and to a second drive that goes off site. I have experienced bitrot once and I would like to avoid it as much as possible. I have around 1TB of personal data that I would not every want to lose. I'm rethinking my working/backup strategy for my data. V2 if above is not possible, i can do initial backup with splitting data into drives (as have that done now) need solution that can index everything that is on disconnected drives to create incremental backups on one drive without connecting all of them. ![]() Files that were changed will be on "last" drive only and old version marked for deletion in db and removed when that media is connected. On the nax time i need to connect only last drive that is not full ad as for incremental backup that will put only the files that are new or changed (without connecting all drives).
